From 1943-1945, the Brooklyn Dodgers conducted Spring Training at Bear Mountain State Park in upstate New York. During World War II, teams stayed up north for Spring Training rather than heading to Florida. The Dodgers trained on this field below. This photo was taken in March 2014 so the grounds of Bear Mountain in 1943-1945 possibly also had snow on it. Click this link to see a photo from Spring Training. The Dodgers sometimes went to nearby West Point to use indoor batting cages in their fieldhouse. In their spare time, they relaxed near the fireplaces in the Inn or ice skated on Hessian Lake.
