Seating/Stadium Design:

The ticket windows are located on the front side of the building facing the road. The seating at Dwyer Stadium is mostly General Admission (bleachers with backs) with a small amount of blue fold-down box seats (5 rows). The seats behind the homeplate area are under a covered grandstand. The concession stands and team store are located behind the seating areas. There is only a scoreboard, no videoboard. The scoreboard does at least list the player's name at bat and their stats. Just beyond the left field wall is a little league field. You can actually hear the PA system from that field while you watch the Muckdogs. The home and away clubhouses are past the bleachers on each side. Dwyer Stadium is very similar to nearby Falcon Park in Auburn, NY.

Atmosphere/Character:

  • This place has such a "minor league feel" to it that I even saw a few players eating dinner at a picnic table near the concession stands.
  • Located in a residential area, Dwyer Stadium has a very laid back, relaxing atmosphere.
  • Mascot - "Maxwell", a muckdog
  • Unfortunately, Dwyer Stadium is one of the last parks that have a true minor league feel to it. When places like Dwyer Stadium no longer exist, I may have to retire from the world of ballpark chasing. This is what minor league baseball is supposed to feel like. Everyone else has it wrong!
  • Stands are filled with loyal, local fans.

Recognition of Team's History and/or MLB Affiliate:

I don't recall seeing anything but I will give them the benefit of the doubt that there was something that I missed.
