Atmosphere/Character:

When New Britain Stadium opened in 1996, it was definitely an upgrade from their old stadium- Beehive Field, which is still standing next to the current park. The main reason a new park was built was because Beehive field did not meet Eastern League requirements. A franchise attendance record was set in 2005. New Britain Stadium has a spacious concourse area underneath the stands.
There were the usual in between innings contests.  Although, there was one unique contest—“Musical Toilet Seats” instead of “Musical Chairs”.  The atmosphere was very mellow and quiet.

Recognition of Team's History and/or MLB Affiliate:

  • Along with a Rock Cats logo on the exterior of the park, there is a Minnesota Twins logo as well.
  • Throughout the parking lot, there are banners of former New Britain players that have made it to the Majors.
  • There are some paintings of former New Britain players that have made it to the Majors atop some of the concession stands.
  • Kirby Puckett's retired number is on the front of the press box.
  • Various banners and flags throughout the concourse area honoring the Twins.
