  • Free parking in front of ballpark
  • I was a little annoyed because there is a special parking area for season ticket holders and I pulled into that because it was not labeled that way and the parking attendant was not very friendly about it. How was I supposed to know if you don't label it?

Seating/Stadium Design:

Lewis Gale Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark is located next to the Salem Civic Center. The exterior of the stadium is comprised of red brick. The ballpark has a great view of the Blue Ridge mountains in the background. The seating bowl is made up of blue fold-down seats. The upper section is general admission, but the seats feel kind of far from the field. The concession stand behind homeplate is in view of the field. There are some tables in front of this concession stand. There is a team store behind the concourse area in a separate building. The team store is right next to the mini-Fenway park field. There is a kids zone play area on the third base concourse area.

  • I found concessions to be a bit pricey. In 2015, the cheapest hot dog was $3.75, a pretzel was $4.00 which is on the high end for minor leagues.
  • They seemed to have the traditional concession items, nothing out of the ordinary.

  • The mountainous view provides a little character but overall it was a very unmemorable visit.
  • The focus was on baseball, not too many promotions and contests.

Recognition of Team's History and/or MLB Affiliate:

  • Mini Fenway Park next to team store. The field is to-scale, about a quarter of the size of Fenway.
  • Team name reflects MLB affiliate
